Understanding PEX-AL-PEX Piping
2023-06-01
PEX-AL-PEX piping is a coextruded crosslinked polyethylene composite pressure pipe with a welded aluminum tube reinforcement between the inner and outer layers.
PEX-AL-PEX piping is a high-quality composite pressure pipe designed with advanced technology to withstand harsh, high-pressure environments.
Its triple-layer construction protects from harmful UV rays, corrosion, and rust.
This kind of composite pipe is ideal for use in harsh environments like chemical plants, heating and cooling systems, and ground-source geothermal applications due to its superior resistance to acidic and alkaline fluids.
PEX-AL-PEX pipe is also lightweight and flexible, making it easy to install, with leak-proof, long-lasting welded joints.
The inner layer of crosslinked polyethylene also provides excellent resistance to slow-crack growth and rapid crack propagation.

FEATURES
The combination of plastic(polyethylene)and metal(aluminium)translates intoexcellent properties of multi-layer composite pipes. They off er the advantages of both metal and plastic pipeswhile at the same time eliminating the disadvantages of both these types
They are characterised by:
*easy assembly without mechanical and weldedjoints. The system is simple and economical thanks to available accessories and connectors.
*flexibility: multi-layer pipes are extremelystableand flexible. They can be bent toaradius of 5.0timesthe pipe diameter and the pipe still retains its
shape.Bending can becarried out as a cold processwithout using special tools.
*resistance to high temperature:the pipes can be used at temperatures up to 90C and even up to 100C for short periods of time
*high pressure resistance:depending on the pipetype, theestimated service life of multi-layer pipes at 0-90℃ and a pressure of up to 10 bar can be as
long as 50 years
*resistance to oxygen diffusion: the aluminium layerforms abarrier to prevent diffusionof gas particles, thus eliminating the risk of corrosion under the
influence of oxygen
*lack of deposits: the inner plastic layer is highlyresistant to the formation of calcareous deposits, dirt and substances resulting from galvanic corrosion
*abrasion resistance:multi-layer pipes are resistant to wear and erosion, also in bending areas where higher water velocity can lead to increased wear
*resistance to microbial growth:lack of corrosion prevents the formation of environments conducive to bacterial proliferation
*ideal sanitary and health conditions: the pipes can beused in all water and heatingsystems.Theyare manufactured from non-toxic materials and can be used for drinking water
*no noise transmission due to fl exibility of the pipes:sound wave propagation is greatly reduced compared to metal pipes, even at higher fl ow rates
*minimum expansion/shrinkage due to temperature fluctuationscompared to metal pipes;the pipes have shape memory
impact resistance:the pipe is rigid and fl exible at the same timemore effectively absorbing sudden impacts
